Yoga - Get 2 hours of Sleep in Just 20 Minutes
Recently in a yoga class I attended, the instructor mentioned that 20 minutes in the Legs-Up-The-Wall or Viparita Karani Pose, was equivalent to 2 hours of sleep. I can just hear the skeptics groaning, don’t be so hasty. Honestly nothing can replace those lost minutes spent in the deep sleep stages of NREM (non-rapid eye movement) sleep, besides more NREM. But I tried adding this pose to my routine everyday for a week and I have to say, it made a world of difference in my ability to manage my day. This article from Yoga Journal is really fantastic and explains some of the physical effects of this pose.
